I created this filter as a representation of online/virtual interactions.
When talking to someone on Zoom, on the surface it is just two people talking, but there is a barrier between each other. You are talking to a screen/computer before you are talking to another person.
The filter I created has lines of numbers, binary code, which is how computers communicate. These lines of zeros and ones on the user’s face represents the barrier that stands between two people when interacting virtually. The numbers also conceal the user’s face, playing on the idea that the virtual representation of a person may not necessarily be the authentic representation of them, but rather just numbers and data.
